I would like to be a tutor because I recognize the ongoing need and would like to help. I tutored math students in high school and have conducted study groups for many of my psychology classes since I've been attending Texas A&M-Commerce. I have always done well in school, but I feel that my time as a college student has really helped me to develop much more effective study skills than I had previously acquired. I feel that tutoring would be a great way for me to pass my own skills on to a younger group of students so that they will be able to take those skills and apply them to all areas of their education. I am currently taking a course in education, and I feel that the concepts and teaching skills I learn through it will also help me to effectively educate. I believe my psychology training will also help. It has helped me to relate to others on a deeper level and to understand more of how we learn. Currently, I am working on my Honors Thesis project, which examines the combined effects of emotion and different methods of mental processing on the formation of true and false memories.
